Laboratories

The college has meticulously designed all pre clinical and therapeutic laboratories like Anatomy, Physiology, Electrotherapy and Exercise Therapy laboratories for the students to have pre clinical practice.

Besides the hospital training, fully equipped Anatomy, Physiology, Electrotherapy and Exercise therapy laboratories are available for the students to practice and familiarize themselves with the handling of various equipment and to perfect their therapy techniques. The College has well equipped spacious demonstration halls separately for exercise therapy & electrotherapy so that student can understand effectively, what they have learnt in the classroom. Practical sessions are designed such that the students are allowed to practice individually so that the basic concepts are well understood.

Exercise Therapy lab is equipped with all latest equipments which are used to rehabilitate the patient. It is equipped with facilities of gait re-education unit, strength training unit, balance and posture rehab unit, movement therapy unit. Different exercise techniques are demonstrated in the lab and the students are encouraged to practice these different techniques on each other and gain confidence in performing theses skills. Students also are prepared to educate patients and families, to promote fitness, health and quality of life in all age groups.

Exercise therapy uses specific stylised movements to improve the way the body functions. It focuses on moving the body and its different parts to relieve symptoms and improve mobility – and off course levels of fitness. You can use exercise therapy for the prevention and management of pain and wellness.

An exercise therapy program may include exercises to:

  • Improve general health

Electrotherapy includes a range of treatments using electricity to reduce pain, improve circulation, repair tissues, strengthen muscles, and promote bone growth, leading to improvements in physical functioning. Electrotherapy has been used to address chronic pain and chronic fatigue in general, as well as the spacious and well-ventilated lab in the college provide students a learning environment so they can improve their skills. It includes all the modern modalities that are used to relieve pain. The lab is well equipped with equipment’s like

Walking school available for students become versatile in gait training and also physiotherapy examination, prognosis, and intervention. Skills include alleviating patients' movement impairments and functional limitations by designing, implementing and modifying therapeutic interventions to help patients return to function. Walking school consists of

  • Mats and Tables which height allows simulation of treatment area.
  • Ambulation devices such as crutches, walkers, canes, stepper unit and wheelchairs assist patients with movement in their own environment.
  • Models of orthoses and prostheses are available for students to understand their function and appropriate use.
  • Exercise equipment includes benches, free weights, cuff weights, total gym, trampoline, bicycles and treadmills.

IT Facility

The primary goal of a well-equipped computer lab at KMCH Colleges is to provide our students with assistance that enhances their possibilities of succeeding in their assignments. The college has high-tech advanced computers with LAN and internet services through wireless connectivity, and LCD projection systems, hardware and software, digital cameras, printers, scanners, plotters, photocopying machine and video cameras etc.

The labs are equipped with well-furnished drafting tables and chairs. All the studios are well lit and ventilated naturally. The computer labs are large enough to accommodate 50 students of each batch.

Lecture Halls

Lecture theatres are equipped with the latest technology such as smart boards, projectors, and surround sound. These help to create a more efficient learning environment and enhances the students experience. The Lecture Halls have been designed to conduct theory and demo classes and they are all provided with all kinds of Audio and Visual equipment.

Furthermore, lecture theatres offer ample seating which can accommodate large numbers of students and is comfortable and space efficient.

Library

The college library has one of the largest collections of titles in Physiotherapy and there are about 2000 titles and 4000 volumes are available. Internet facilities are available for the students in the college and library. The library regularly subscribes National and International journals in Physiotherapy and Allied Health Sciences. Another important thing to note is that our libraries are innovative in the way we provide students with the desired information pertaining to their growth. Our innovative libraries aren't content serving as one-way conduits of information; we also aim to foster dialogue and exchange with their users.

Digital Library

The library has a separate digital section which provides all kinds of digital resources and online journals in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Library Rules and Regulations

  • The library rules and regulations are introduced to regularize the use of the library resources and will be reviewed periodically to meet the changing needs
  • Library will be kept open for use on all working days from 8.30 A.M. to 5.15 P.M.
  • The library will be closed on Sundays and all Government Holidays.

General Rules

  • Students/staff should scan their ID card in the E - Gate Register scanner while entering and leaving the library.
  • The library users should wear their ID card while they are inside the library.
  • Books will be issued only on production of Bar-coded ID card.
  • Strict silence should be maintained in the library.
  • Personal belongings like files, folders, bags, issued books etc are not allowed inside the library. They should be kept on the rack provided at the entrance of the library.
  • For the benefit of its users, library is following the Open Access System. The books, current journals, back volumes taken out from the rack should not be replaced. They should be left only on the tables, well trained Library assistants are there to replace them in the proper places.
  • Student will not be permitted inside the library during the class hours.

Books Issues and Returns

  • The books taken from the library are to be returned within 3 days or on or before the due date specified on the due date slip pasted in the front page of the books.
  • While taking the books students should write their Roll No. on the due date slip pasted in the book.
  • All UG students are eligible to take 1 book and PG students are eligible to take 3 books. All staff is eligible to take 3 books.
  • Books that are returned will not be issued on the same day. The books will be issued next day onwards.
  • If a book is not returned on the due date another book will not be issued.
  • If a user fails to return the books on the due date the member is liable to be fined Rs. 2 per day.
  • If a book is lost, the user should inform the librarian and the same should be traced and replaced within 30 days from the due date.
  • If the book cannot be traced it should be replaced with a new book (current edition of the book).
  • If the borrower is not able to replace the lost book within 30 days, they have to pay three times the cost of the book.
  • Students, who leave the college for any reason in the middle of the year, should return the books before they leave the college, and obtain a “No Due Certificate” from the librarian.
  • Reference books, CD's, DVD's, Project Reports, Back Volumes and Periodicals will not be issued for home reading. They are to be referred inside the library only.
  • Users are allowed to take the photocopies of the required articles. Photocopying of full book is not permitted.

The librarian reserves the right to cancel the membership of any member who does not follow the rules and regulations of the library or misbehaves in the library.

Sports

Apart from the academics they are given activities in sports and games and they are also taught about training and management of sports injuries. In addition, they are motivated to exhibit their talent in sports and games. This facilitates them to take part and excel in the intercollegiate and university sports meets.

Through sports students are able to build a wide range of abilities and skills such as leadership, confidence, teamwork, patience, self-reliance, and trust. This helps in facilitating the overall development of an individual and gives them a more proactive approach to handling the various trials and tribulations that come with life.
